Intra-articular injection
A hormone injection (or hormone block) is administered during the consultation with ortopaedist. Synthetic corticosteroid hormones, which the body naturally produces in the adrenal glands, are injected into the joint.
Corticosteroids are used to treat inflammatory conditions affecting joints, tendons, ligaments, the tissues surrounding joints, mucous membranes and connective tissue. They are effective in relieving post-traumatic inflammation and overuse syndromes.
Due to its widespread use, this treatment method is often referred to as Kenalog therapy.
