Foot care

Jalaravi

Õigeaegse ja teadliku hooldusega on paljusid jalavaevusi võimalik ennetada.

The legs ensure body’s balance and assure a correct walking pattern.

Over time, there may be changes in the skin, nails and supporting structures of the foot. They can cause discomfort, pain and affect general mobility as well as quality of life. Most common problems include thickening and deformation of the nails, calluses, corns, cracked heels, ingrown toenails and pain while walking. However, many of the foot related problems can be prevented with timely and informed care.

At the Medicum foot care clinic on Liivalaia, our services are provided by a specialised nurse, who in addition to dermatology, has been trained in medical foot care. You can schedule an appointment for the assessment and treatment of skin and nail problems on feet, or for preventive consultation.

In addition, foot care nurse treats thickened skin, heel cracks, fungal skin infections, and age-related changes. We also provide treatment for patients with increased risk of skin damage and infection, including those with diabetic foot syndrome. Services include care of abnormal nails, correction of ingrown nails and professional treatment of corns and painful areas. If necessary, a laboratory test will be performed to diagnose nail fungus (cost of the laboratory test will be added).

The foot care clinic also provides support for conditions related to the foot shape and the structure of bones and joints. Our services are designed to help alleviate discomfort, maintain foot function, and prevent conditions from worsening

The difference between pedicure and medical pedicure

Cosmetic pedicure is mainly focused on the appearance of the feet.
Medical pedicure (medi-pedi) is performed by a trained professional and it focuses on foot health, prevention and on alleviating health problems. It does not include applying nail polish.

We recommend booking an appointment as soon as you notice first signs of changes – before pain sets in. Regular and proper care helps to maintain healthy feet and supports the mobility of the entire body.

During the consultation, the foot care nurse assesses the condition of the feet and nails, listens to patient complaints and provides an explanation for the reasons behind changes.
