Ultrasonography procedure (sonography)

Ultrasound procedures are used to measure and evaluate the structure, shape, size and blood flow of various internal organs. The procedure is based on sound wave propagation through human tissues. The procedure provides a significant amount of information and is not dangerous to the patient. It is not possible to examine the lung, stomach, intestines and skeleton with an ultrasound. For an abdominal examination, eating is not permitted for 4 hours before the procedure and the urinary bladder must be full! Thus, it is recommended to drink at least 2 glasses of water 1-2 hours before the procedure. The medicines prescribed by a doctor must be taken per regimen. Read more…
