Cardiotocography

Cardiotocography is a procedure that measures foetal heartbeat frequency and uterine contractions. It is a safe and painless procedure that is carried out by a midwife on a pregnant women on her list if the pregnancy is post-term or if the procedure is indicated earlier. The procedure takes about 20-30 minutes and uses sensors that are strapped around a pregnant woman´s abdomen, if possible while she is lying on one side. The data are recorded on paper.
