Removal of the intrauterine contraceptive device (coil)

The removal of the coil takes place during menstruation during a visit to the gynaecologist. The removal requires that the doctor pull on the coil’s strings and takes only a few seconds. The removal and re-implantation of a hormonal coil takes place at the same time. Menstruation is not necessary for the exchange of a hormonal coil; this may be done on a freely selected day.
