Intrauterine contraceptive device – implantation of a coil

An intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD) is a T-shaped device that is placed into the uterine cavity to prevent pregnancy. The IUD is implanted by a gynaecologist and insertion takes only a few minutes. The IUD can be implanted at any time during the menstrual cycle, but the best time for implantation is during menstruation. It must be insured that the woman is not pregnant at the moment of the IUD implantation. Before examination, a PAP test is necessary if it is has not been done in the last 2 years.
